Crystal Carson
Crystal Carson devotes herself to deepening the authenticity of actors. She is highly recommended by major managers, agents, directors, producers, casting directors, and professional actors, including Oscar-nominee Russell Crowe.
As an elite acting coach in Los Angeles for over 30 years, Crystal is especially skillful at accommodating an individual’s methods and personality. She has traveled the world teaching her advanced yet accessible process to generate a character’s life, known as the Carson Method, which emphasizes creating personalized histories that allow an actor to easily come from truth. She offers retreats for actors who are differently abled and works with the Professional Actors Theatre of The Handicapped, sponsored by CBS-TV.
A former actor herself, Crystal studied with Uta Hagen, Sanford Meisner, Howard Fine and Eric Morris. She performed in over 25 plays and had a career in film and television, including a five-year run as Julia Barrett on General Hospital. After studying human psychology, she developed The Carson Method to humanize the technical aspects of the actors’ auditioning process.
His contribution is titled: “Learning Lines by Heart.” Her companion piece, “No Schm-acting Please!”, is in Chapter 9.
